Memories

Yesterday was our first day of driving, and might I add, it was an all around amazing day! In my opinion, the highlight of the day was stopping in the little town of Holbrook. Not only was it a great town to see, but it also brought back a ton of memories for me. We stopped at this little odd-ball rock store. When me and my mom used to go see my grandparents we would always drive by there (according to my mom,) but never stop. This was our chance! When we got there, we realized it was a Sunday, so of course, nothing would be open. We did get some cool pictures of neat dinosaurs and geodes of which I will always remember. We also stopped at one of the most funky motels I have ever seen! It was the Wigwam Motel. In the parking lot, there were about six or seven old, beat up , rustic cars. Of course, we had to take a ton pictures!! The "rooms" of the motel were all separate from each other and were just like big tepees. It was funky yet fascinating that those were the rooms. The last part of the Holbrook experience was by far my favorite. Right when we were just about to leave town we got stopped by a little old man (that looked exactly like my grandpa of what I could remember) walking at a crosswalk. Once he got to the sidewalk, we all three (him, me, and my mom,) stopped and looked at each other at the same time. My mom said hi and I thought that would be it. But it wasn't, he waved to respond to my mom, and after a couple of seconds he blew us a kiss. It was really amazing. It reminded me of my grandpa and brought a big smile to my face. It was almost like the unknown man was my grandpa and the kiss was a sign that he will be watching over us and looking out for us the whole trip. Now I will always remember Holbrook and its funky rock shops, it's insane hotels, and most importantly the wonderful people.
